“…legal knowledge and professionalism shone out at all times, but I always felt talking to Hannah was as easy as talking to a friend. I think that’s a really important quality…”

Hannah Dowd

Solicitor

Hannah joined MSB’s employment team in August 2019, bringing with her a broad experience in commercial and high street practice.

Hannah is a highly skilled Solicitor covering all areas of Employment law. Her specialisms include negotiating and improving terms of settlements for claimants who have been dismissed, or who require her expertise in terminating their contract by mutual agreement. Hannah also specialises in a range of discrimination cases and has had recent success in a number of sex discrimination and maternity based discrimination matters. Hannah undertakes her own advocacy within the early stages of all Tribunal matters.

As well as her work for individuals, Hannah also regularly advises companies on all issues relating to employment and HR, including drafting contracts, settlement agreements, company handbooks and policies and procedures.

In the past 12 months Hannah has established relationships with non for profit organisations such as the Liverpool CAB and is a member of Access To Advice Network. Hannah has also forged a good relationship with Equality and Employment Law Centre alongside continuing in her efforts to build upon the firms strong bonds with local MPs offices, offering support and guidance as and when needed.

Hannah strives for equality in all areas and sits on the MSB Equalities Committee with responsibility for the disability category. She is passionate about protecting and promoting rights and equality for disabled people.

Hannah has recently started a bi-monthly legal clinic with the University of Law. This is a scheme that offers pro-bono legal advice and is shadowed by the University of Law students to help them with their Employment elective. Hannah attended the University of Law to study her LPC in 2014, and feels that she can give back by helping the students and also providing some pro-bono advice to those individuals who may not qualify for legal aid, or have the funds to support their Tribunal matter.

Hannah is extremely compassionate, a tough negotiator and a good listener. She is dedicated to helping clients through difficult times at work; whether employer or employee.
