ESG
We don’t just do law. We lead with purpose.
At MSB Solicitors, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is more than a compliance tick-box - it’s at the heart of how we operate, lead, and serve.
As a firm rooted in community and expanding nationally, we believe in using our platform to create real impact, promote sustainability and uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
Led by Managing Partner Emma Carey, our ESG approach reflects our long-standing commitment to access, inclusion, and justice, both within our firm and in the wider world.
Our ESG Committee consists of sub-committees in LGBTQIA+, BAME, Disability & Wellness, Families, Women, Social Mobility, Environment and Governance.

Environmental Responsibility
We recognise our duty to help shape a more sustainable future. Across our offices, MSB has embedded eco-conscious practices into daily operations, from digital-first workflows that reduce paper waste, to reducing our carbon footprint through remote access, hybrid work and energy-efficient buildings.
We continue to evaluate and improve our environmental policies, ensuring our growth aligns with broader efforts to combat climate change and protect the planet.

Social Impact
Giving Back. Lifting Others. Building Equity.
MSB’s social mission is driven by a deep-rooted belief in equity and justice. We actively invest in the communities we serve through:
-Pro-bono legal clinics: Regularly held at Blackburne House and community hubs across the North West
Charity partnerships: Our staff are trustees of over 20 charities and social enterprises across the UK
-Community support: We back organisations like Mandela8, Citizens Advice Liverpool, NSPCC Merseyside & Cheshire, and local foodbanks
-Access to justice: We prioritise services for vulnerable groups, including survivors of domestic abuse, trafficking victims and individuals facing housing insecurity
We don’t just offer legal advice - we help people rebuild lives, restore dignity and achieve justice.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
More Than Representation - Real Empowerment
We are proud to be one of the most inclusive law firms in the UK, with a culture built on visibility, voice and action:
- Navajo LGBTQ+ accredited – the first law firm in Liverpool to achieve this standard
- Equalities Committee – active working groups representing LGBTQ+ rights, gender equality, disability inclusion and social mobility
- Policy innovation – introducing enhanced same-sex parental leave, paid transition leave, and support for colleagues at all stages of life
Our DEI initiatives are led by people from across the firm, with Emma Carey playing an active role in ensuring our practices stay bold, inclusive and compassionate.

Ethical Governance
We uphold the highest standards of governance and accountability, with clear policies that reflect our ethical values:
- Transparent leadership – inclusive decision-making and regular firm-wide communications
- Staff wellbeing – mental health support, flexible work and structured career progression
- Legal integrity – we hold ourselves to the highest professional and ethical standards in everything we do
Governance at MSB isn’t just about rules - it’s about building a culture of respect, trust and responsibility.
