“MSB has assisted us with fundraising and also helping us provide food parcels for some of our students. Nothing is ever too much for them to support us with, or sign post us to others who can.”
Understanding the issue
Having a specialist and dedicated team with decades of experience working solely for social landlords, we are tuned into how social landlords operate. We know our audience and pride ourselves on being accessible, removing the perceived barrier between solicitors and clients, avoiding using legal jargon wherever possible and being an extension of our clients’ teams rather than an external law firm. This has helped Louise Murphy and the team develop a unique place in the market and has allowed us to home in on what our clients want, enabling us to be succinct and confident in the advice we give.
We represent many of the main social housing providers in the North. We are regularly called upon to advise across a broad spectrum of tenure types, from general needs, supported housing, specialist supported housing, homelessness accommodation, care homes, market rents, foyers for under 18s, as well as student accommodation. All of this experience means we have come across most of the scenarios that face our clients today.
As a result of our experience, the breadth of work which we cover and the fact that our fee earners are all legally qualified, means our advice is always technically sound and erudite. We’ve been there before, we know what works and we know how to communicate our advice to our clients in a no nonsense, straightforward and friendly manner.
Why MSB?
Housing law is our passion and the team, led by Louise Murphy, are experts in their field.
In 2018, MSB acquired specialist social housing and Legal 500 recommended law firm, Knox Ellis, as a cornerstone of its Social Housing and Regeneration team. The team has continued to build on the excellent reputation of Knox Ellis and works with a diverse range of social landlords across the North.
Our aim is to make a difference by working collaboratively with our client as extensions of their teams, so that they can meet the many and diverse challenges they face in the Social Housing sector.
Our fee earners are either solicitors or have completed the Legal Practice Course and have a combined experience of over 50 years in social housing. This experience means that we know what works and what it takes to get the job done.
