MSB partners with crowfunding platform to improve access to justice

MSB Solicitors Ltd has become the first law firm in Liverpool to partner with crowdfunding platform, Crowd Justice, in an effort to help improve access to justice for its clients.
Crowd Justice allows individuals to raise funds for legal representation, in the event that they are not eligible for legal aid and cannot afford legal representation themselves. Unlike other crowdfunding platforms, all funding campaigns posted on Crowd Justice are verified and must have a lawyer instructed, to ensure those donating can be confident that they are supporting a legitimate, well-deserving cause.

Having recently secured its first case through Crowd Justice, MSB is encouraging support from the public to raise funds for an individual who was taken advantage of by a serial fraudster, resulting in her losing £10,000. Now joined in the private prosecution by other victims, who altogether have lost £60,000, she is asking for help to bring the perpetrator to justice with  MSB, as her legal representative.

Emma Carey, managing partner at MSB, said:

“We are incredibly passionate about access to justice and believe that everyone, regardless of their circumstance, has the right to legal representation.

“By partnering with Crowd Justice, we are able to provide a service to those who would not ordinarily be able to afford it, helping to ensure they can reach a fair and just result.

“As a firm, we never stand still and recognise that the law must change in order to meet the needs of an ever-changing society. That’s why we have taken action to create this new offer, helping to improve access to justice for all.”

Maeve Storey, CrowdJustice Campaigns Manager, added:

“CrowdJustice is committed to making the law accessible to everyone and providing a platform that enables more people to access legal services. Over 1,000 people with legal cases have raised funds via CrowdJustice; ten cases funded on the platform have gone to the Supreme Court.

“Our Campaigns Team look forward to supporting more of MSB’s clients as they raise funds for legal fees and costs.”
