Emma Carey qualified in 2000, before succeeding Paul Bibby as Managing Partner of MSB in March 2018. As Managing Partner, Emma is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the firm’s business strategy.
Formerly head of the firm’s family department, Emma prides herself on having developed one of the North West’s leading award-winning family departments.
Emma has dedicated her career to family law and launched the MSB family department in 2000. She recognised that our society is now made up of diverse families and has adapted the family department to meet the needs of the modern family. She has subsequently led the team to be one of the leading family departments in the North West.
Emma is committed to access to justice and sits as a committee member of Liverpool Law Society’s Access to Justice Sub Committee, and the Family Sub Committee. Emma named as a recognised practitioner in Chambers and Partners and a leading individual in the Legal 500 legal directory which states that: ‘Exceptional‘ practice head Emma Carey is well-regarded for her specialist experience in domestic matters, has been ranked in Chambers and Partners 2019 and is a Law Society Family Law Panel member.
She sits as a trustee of Blackburne House, an organisation dedicated to the education and empowerment of women. She has delivered training to lawyers and the not for profit sector on domestic violence and in particular the availability of legal aid. Emma also sits as a Trustee of Liverpool BID and Anthony Walker Foundation.
She also sits on the Steering Committee of the Homelessness Business Charter, the first of its kind charter for businesses to pledge their services to come together and fight homelessness in our city region.
Emma has personally taken charge of an all-encompassing diversity and inclusivity drive at MSB, actively promoting values of democracy, tolerance of different cultures and religion, mutual respect and individual liberty.
