Darren Barwick

Partner and Solicitor

Darren specialises in property, a natural choice for someone who cares about the built environment and how people interact with it. He has a wealth of experience in residential development, where he has advised a number of large developers and house builders from the start of his career to the present day.

He acts on site acquisition and assembly, development agreements, overage agreements and advises on sales documentation and the disposal of units. Darren believes that being commercially aware and pragmatic is essential for the effective delivery of development, whether large or small. A proud Liverpudlian, he is privileged to have been involved in developments that have helped regenerate the city.

Darren has acted for bridging finance companies in secured lending and development finance transactions for a number of years, which has given him a comprehensive understanding of the market and enables him to structure transactions and advise on documentation that fully protects his clients, whilst still getting the deal done on time.

He also acts for institutional lenders and advises borrowers on commercial finance matters. Darren believes that assisting developers to access capital for building projects is crucial for regeneration.

He is experienced in landlord and tenant matters acting for both landlord and tenants in commercial lease transactions and leasehold management, also advising on short term tenancies and licenses. In addition, he acts for property investors (both individuals and companies) in the acquisition, disposal and letting of property. He also advises on business sales and acquisitions.
