MSB’s Social Housing Highlight – March 2023

This month we are also introducing our Family Team, in particular one of our Partners based in the Manchester office, John Owens. John has provided some helpful questions and answers as to what happens to a tenancy when a relationship breaks down on our website.

The latest at MSB

We kicked off the month on the 1st with Louise Murphy and Amy Tagoe, who delivered our free monthly webinar on Succession in Social Housing, along with Steven Butchart from our Wills and Probate team.

March is always a busy month but especially as we commemorated on of our favourite global celebrations, International Women’s Day, with the team. We attended various events over the week including the Women in Social Housing and Women in Property breakfast with Diane Modahl, the Pro-Manchester Lunch, and #IWDConnect with Agent and MSB.

We have some amazing news to share…
We won the Business Community Impact Award at the Community Impact Awards! Andy Moore, Andrew Fairman, and Beth McKeown were there to accept the award on behalf of MSB and said the atmosphere was We are also proud to have been nominated for Business of the Year at the LCR Pride Awards on 6th April. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Team MSB were also successful at the Manchester Law Society Posh Pub Quiz, scooping first prize. We also got through to the Semi Final of the Business Fives football tournament, raising well-deserved funds for the Anthony Walker Foundation.

It hasn’t all been lunches and dinners out though, as we have also attended the National Housing Federation Housing Conference and the Pro-Manchester Green Tech Conference to keep us all up to date on new developments.

This month, we donated 100 Easter Eggs to Peaks and Plains Housing Trust for them to distribute within their community. As a firm, we have also been increasing our awareness of neurodiversity this month, attending a number of events. Abigail Eaves attended an inspiring webinar on The Language of Neurodiversity with Mark Robinson. Mutual Exchanges and Tenant Engagement
The Government is currently consulting on mutual exchanges and tenant engagement. The consultation ends on 30th March 2023.

Anti-Social Behaviour Action plan
On 27th March 2023, the Government published its Anti-Social Behaviour Action Plan, which sets out a number of proposed commitments to tackle ASB.

Social Housing Qualifications

On 26th February 2023, Michael Gove announced that Social Housing Managers would be required to gain a professional qualification under new rules to raise standards.
