Defamation and Privacy

Given the rise of social media, websites and the easy use of mobile phones, defamation and libellous publications are becoming more and more commonplace in society.

Defamation can occur when an individual says, writes or otherwise communicates, for example via a social media post or comment, a statement that is untrue and can damage the personal or professional reputation of someone in the eyes of the general public.

Any claim for defamation must be brought within 12 months from the date of the defamatory publication, so it is imperative that individuals or businesses seek advice as soon as possible.
