Due to continued expansion, we are looking for a motivated and ambitious NQ to 2-year PQE Social Housing Solicitor to join our Birmingham team. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career within a highly respected team, working with Registered Providers of Social Housing across a broad range of housing management and litigation matters.


You will receive hands-on support, excellent training and genuine opportunities for career progression within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.


Key Responsibilities


  • Providing practical and commercially focused legal advice to Registered Providers of Social Housing.
  • Managing a varied caseload of housing management, housing condition claims and social housing litigation matters.
  • Acting for landlords in possession proceedings, including anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches and injunction applications.
  • Advising clients on tenancy management issues, policies, procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Defending Housing Condition Claims
  • Supporting clients with Ombudsman investigations and complaints.
  • Advising on Equality Act, Human Rights Act and public law considerations.
  • Assisting with boundary disputes and other landlord and tenant matters.
  • Undertaking advocacy where appropriate.
  • Ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and clients are kept informed throughout.
  • Delivering high standards of client care.
  • Contributing to business development initiatives, networking and client training events.
  • Maintaining accurate file management, time recording and billing practices.
  • Keeping up to date with legislative and regulatory developments impacting the social housing sector.
  • Working collaboratively within a supportive and high-performing team.

 

About You


  • We are looking for a candidate who:
  • Has completed a seat in social housing, litigation, property litigation or a closely related area, or already has up to 2 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Has a genuine interest in social housing law and the social housing sector.
  • Possesses strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Can communicate legal issues clearly and provide practical advice.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and a solution-focused approach.
  • Is commercially aware and committed to delivering excellent client service.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is adaptable, enthusiastic and keen to develop their career.
  • Shares MSB's values and commitment to making a positive impact within our communities.
  • Has competent IT skills and experience using case management systems.

 

Previous experience acting for Registered Providers of Social Housing would be advantageous but is not essential.
