Emma succeeded Managing Partner, Emma Carey as Head of Family in 2018 and has been a Partner of the firm since 2017. She is also Head of MSB’s Equality and Diversity sub-committee.
Emma is the only person in the Liverpool City Region with the highly regarded Resolution accreditations for child abduction, forced marriage and honour based abuse and is one of only five with a domestic abuse accreditation.
Emma is on the Law Society’s Children Panel, evidencing expertise in children matters from parental dispute to adoption proceedings. She regularly represents parents and children and is instructed by the Official Solicitor to take on child abduction cases.
Emma is recognised by the Chambers and Partners legal directory which states she is a “Brilliant solicitor”. Emma has a growing reputation for her children work, which takes in both public and private cases. She has notable expertise in international cases concerning highly sensitive issues such as forced marriage, FGM and abduction. Emma is further listed as a Next Generation Partner in the Legal 500 directory which states that Emma ‘is recognised as a ‘stand-out international children’s lawyer‘.
Emma has specific expertise in international family law cases. She is instructed by clients all over the world for High Court matters and was described by Legal 500 as having ‘state of the art knowledge of abduction, jurisdiction and relocation cases.’ Emma has provided training to other family lawyers, CAFCASS and charitable organisations on topics including child abduction, wardship, international divorce, forced marriage and honour-based abuse.
Emma understands that her clients are often facing extreme worry and uncertainty and advises clients clearly and sensitively.
Emma is a Director of Liverpool Law Society and Chair of the Liverpool Law Society Family Sub Committee.
