He has worked as a solicitor for 27 years having previously studied at the University of De Montfort in Leicester and then at the College of Law in Chester.

Specialising in matrimonial finance and private children disputes and proceedings, Andy’s career has also seen him work at three other Manchester practices - Linda Myers, Olliers Solicitors and Merrick.

“I bring a pragmatic, compassionate and conciliatory approach to dealing with family law matters and my aim is to grow the volume of private paying work at MSB,” he said.

“I have a wealth of experience in all types of family law matters, including domestic violence matters, public law proceedings, divorce and financial matters.”

Nicole Kerr is a successful product of MSB’s commitment to training and people development and was appointed this month as a solicitor in the family team, having completed her training with the firm.

A native of Belfast, she graduated from Liverpool Hope University in 2010 with a BA (Hons) Degree in English Literature.

She then went on to study the GDL at the University of Law, Chester and studied fro her LPC in John Moore’s University.

Nicole joined MSB in October 2012 as legal assistant to partner Emma Palmer, and begun her training contact in September 2014.

She has demonstrated a particular interest in children’s matters and care proceedings and has had the opportunity to assist on many public and private law cases involving children.

Nicole says: “I have established strong links with the Irish community in Liverpool since moving here to study, working closely with Irish Community Care.

“This is a Liverpool-Based charity that offers assistance to the Irish and Irish traveller community.”

Nicole is also a member of the Institute of Irish Studies and enjoys attending lectures and networking events organised by the institute.

Milly Dodd and Daniel Powell are also joining the firm as apprentices. Managing partner at MSB is personally committed to providing alternative routes into careers in the law, he says: “University simply isn’t for everybody.

“Over the years, I have seen a great number of talented individuals rising through the ranks at MSB – not all of whom have followed the usual academic route.

“By providing apprenticeships, we hope that we can harness those talents sooner and provide the right direction earlier in order to unlock the potential of individual members of staff.”
