Hayley Catherall, partner and solicitor in MSBs family department, has been highly commended for her work in apprenticeships by Damar, the national apprenticeships provider.
News came further to Damar Training’s Annual Apprenticeship Awards earlier this month.
Having narrowly missed out on the award for apprenticeships supervisor, Hayley received a letter stating that the judges were particularly impressed with the standard of the nominations in her category and felt strongly she should be specially commended for going above and beyond in her role.

MSB apprentices Susie Packer and Callum Murphy were also highly commended in the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year category and have been tipped to enter the National Apprenticeship Service Annual Awards.
Hayley said: “We may not have picked up an award this year, but it’s still great to see our efforts in apprenticeships recognised.
“Providing alternative routes into a career in the law is something we are passionate about as a firm. University isn’t for everybody – I myself am proud to say I followed a different path.
“It wasn’t always easy. I’ve overcome some real adversity and some challenging attitudes to non-academic learning, but I think it made me more determined and tenacious.
“Finding the right environment to learn, grow your experience and hone your craft is so important. MSB has been the perfect firm for me and I’m delighted to say that I was made partner earlier this year.
“If we can inspire young people with a similar passion to pursue it and reach their potential, well I’ll be happy with that.”
