Paul, who joined co-founder Sean Sexton in 1989, will step down from the top job and retire from the partnership in March but will remain with the firm in an advisory role.

Emma has been a partner at MSB since 2005 and is head of our fast-growing family department. Her specialties include divorce, financial disputes, children's issues including care proceedings, co-habitation disputes and domestic violence.

Junior Lawyers Merseyside is to hold a ‘games night’ for members at the recently opened Gino D’Acampo restaurant in Liverpool later this month.

It will take place in the private dining room downstairs on Thursday, October 26, and will feature pool, ping-pong, and table football and will be sponsored by Sacco Mann.

It follows on from the successful ‘pizza and prosecco’ event at the Red Door in Berry Street at the end of September.
On the night a fantastic £320 was raised for the chosen charity Clatterbridge.

MSBs Thomas Stockton and Sarah McGuiness are social reps for the Junior Lawyers Division in Liverpool and responsible for organising monthly events.
Thomas says: “Events like this are an important part of professional development, as they allow you to stay in touch with your peers and exchange knowledge and experiences in an informal setting.
“We were delighted with the turnout at Red Door last month and we’re looking forward to welcoming more young Liverpool lawyers later this month.”
MSB Solicitors have been shortlisted for the Family Law Regional Firm of the Year for the North, for the second year running.

Amelia Hayden, trainee solicitor in our commercial team, will ditch her desk and don her gi this Thursday, 7 September when she teaches a beginners self-defence class for the Merseyside Women’s Lawyers Division (WLD).
WLD Merseyside organise a number of events throughout the year with the aim of bringing together women in the legal profession. It is an opportunity to share experiences, transfer knowledge and expertise, have access to support and career advice and expand your professional network.
WLD Merseyside is a membership organisation, but many of the events they organise are open to non-members, including friends and family. A number of the team here at MSB have signed up to the class to support Amelia, including fellow WLD committee members Becky Emmitt, Mel Armour and Sarah McGuiness.
The session will be held at Jackson Lees Solicitors’ office in Walker House, Exchange Flags from 5.45pm.
Tickets are £5.00 and funds raised will go towards supporting the Merseyside WLD charity of the year, Marie Curie.

Few things are more likely to cause conflict in a family than a will. Grief can quickly turn to anger and resentment when relatives believe they have been hard done by.
When people challenge wills they will often make a claim on the basis that the will-maker was not of sound mind or aware of what he or she was signing.
Now, for the first time, video evidence can be used to refute such allegations. MSB has recently completed a 20-minute video of a lady in her 80s signing her will.
She is leaving her estate to her children in unequal shares and so there is a high likelihood it will be contested by those receiving smaller shares.
Michele Henderson, trust and estate practitioner at MSB, said: “The recording clearly demonstrates the lady fully understands the process and it shows her carefully reading through the documents before she signs her name.
“This is a powerful tool for those looking to make a new will and we would urge people to get in touch with us here at MSB.”

A drive to nurture future generations of entrepreneurs and business leaders has now been tapping into the energy and talent of young people for more than a decade.

Since its launch in 2004 the LionHeart Challenge has engaged with almost 400,000 school pupils in nine regions of the UK, including the Liverpool city region.

A totally inclusive project, LionHeart sees a whole year group of pupils take part in a day-long ‘high-energy’ workshop where they develop a comprehensive business concept.

MSB Woolton FC held it’s annual presentation day on Saturday, 1st July. Presentation days are an opportunity to reward the efforts of the club’s young players and celebrate their collective progress throughout the season.
The event was held at the club’s ground, Camp Hill in Woolton. Former Everton FC midfielder and commentator Graham Stuart came along to meet young players and their families, as well fellow former Everton midfielder and MSB Woolton ambassador Ian Snodin and Liverpool FC legend John Barnes.
MSB Woolton FC operates in excess of 70 teams from under-7 through to under-21, as well as having a veterans’ team, two men’s open age teams, women’s open age team and five girl’s teams from under-10 to under-16.
Most of the teams play in the Merseyside and Halewood Junior Football League but are also represented in the South Liverpool, Belle Vale, West Derby and Halton Leagues.

MSB hosted its annual summer barbecue at Blackburne House again earlier this month. The event is an opportunity for staff from the firm’s three offices in Allerton, Wavertree and the city centre to come together to celebrate achievements over the past twelve months.
And there have been a number of feats for the firm in recent months. MSB relocated it’s city centre office in January, from Silkhouse Court to 4 St Paul’s Square. The firm now occupy more than 5,500 sq ft in the heart of Liverpool’s commercial district.
MSB appointed 5 new partners in March and staff numbers have also risen by around a third since the start of the year. The firm now employ more than 100 people across its three sites and expanded their Allerton Road office in April to house their growing residential property team.
Further, MSB announced record financial figures in June, topping £5million in turnover for the first time in it’s history – so there was certainly plenty to celebrate.
The summer barbecue is also when MSB announce their nominated charity for the year – and this year, MSBs nominated charity will be The Anthony Walker Foundation.

MSB Solicitors were proud to sponsor this year’s Kids Day at the Liverpool Hope International Tennis Tournament, after donating the funds to buy hundreds of racquets for tennis-mad local children.
MSB were a presenting sponsor of this summer's tournament as it returned to the city for its sixteenth year.
MSB donated funds to provide hundreds of new racquets for the festival's Kids Day on June 14.
Kids Day has become an integral part of the festival programme and now incorporates around 1,000 children from across the city region.
But organisers say as the day has grown and evolved, it has been difficult to keep up with the growing demand for equipment and this year they faced a shortfall of around 400 tennis racquets for the event.
