Main Purpose of the Role

  • Provide the fee earners with secretarial and administrative support
  • Assist in the day-to-day administrative and drafting functions within the office

The role does not give the right to contradict firm policy or procedures or for unauthorised expenditure.

Principle Areas of Responsibility

  • Drafting basic Court documents in relation to ASB Injunctions (on and without notice), Breach of Tenancy Applications and Claims for Possession (trespass and ASB).
  • Proof reading, amending Witness Statements as and when required.
  • Preparing Statement of Costs (filing and serving the same).
  • Instructing/liaising with Process Servers and/or other third parties i.e., medical experts (chasing reports etc.)
  • Assisting fee earners with directions, filing and serving evidence, drafting of N265 and List of Documents, drafting letters of non-availability thereafter anything else case elated to assist the fee earner.
  • Collating hearing/trial bundles and assisting through to completion of the same (completing index, liaising with the other side for approval, finalising bundles and index with pagination etc.)
  • Main assistant to the fee earner with conduct over warning letters. Assisting with drafting the same and being solely responsible for the upkeep of the hard copy record and system tables of warning letters for each Client.
  • Basic research.
  • Along with any additional duties deemed appropriate by the fee earner in relation to case progression.
  • Attending Court on an urgent basis to drop off/pick up Court documents.
  • Assisting and amending templates on the practice management system.
  • Please note the above (unless specifically stated) are not the sole responsibility of the Paralegal and duties dependant on capacity can be dealt with by other members of the administrative support team in order to assist.

Additional Fee Earner Support

  • Assisting with all drafting as requested by fee earners in relation to court documents.
  • Photocopying
  • Filing of documents
  • Drafting NSPs and access letters for gas/electrical injunctions
  • Preparation of Certificates of Service
  • Obtaining documents from the Land Registry
  • Liaising with the Courts
  • Requesting transcripts
  • Assisting fee earners in amending court documents when they’re at court
  • Main office contact for dealing with Breach of Civil Injunction Orders during office hours and as requested by management out of office hours.
  • Open and maintain files to expected standards
  • Input data into the firm’s computer system as required.
  • Assisting administrative assistance in the upkeep of all central diaries including preparation of the monthly hearing schedule and statements of costs schedule.
