This month, we are pleased to welcome Polish solicitor Joanna Jandula to our family team.
Joanna, who is fluent in English and Polish, specialises in all aspects of relationship breakdown including divorce, division of finances, residence and contact arrangements for children, international relocation of children and international child abduction. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in law and administration in Poland, Joanna went on to complete a second degree at the University of Central Lancashire and qualified as a solicitor in January 2014.
Joanna says: “I am incredibly excited to join the team at MSB. I hope that in my new role I might be able to focus my experience and expertise to become a familiar face for the Polish community living in Liverpool, who often don’t know how to access the legal system.
“It is my intention to help develop a niche area of the law that specialises in assisting minority groups in the city with their legal issues. I think it’s very important that migrants living in the UK can go to somebody who understands their position, can empathise with the challenges they face and who can explain in easy and understandable terms differences between judicial systems and procedures . It is wonderful to have a fantastic firm like MSB behind me and I’m sure that with their support we can become the go-to firm for those communities.”
Joanna brings extensive experience of the Polish legal system and strong connections to Polish advocates. Joanna also works as legal advisor to Merseyside Polonia and offers a number of free legal advice sessions as part of her role with them.
Joanna is currently the only Polish speaking solicitor in Liverpool area undertaking advocacy work.
Louis Bever also joins us this month as a paralegal in our family team, having recently qualified with a degree in law from The University of Liverpool. Louis speaks fluent French and Italian and will form part of our Child Abduction team.
Additionally, Sarah Coker joins our family care team from Weightmans and will assist solicitor Nicola Harris; Thomas Stockton, who has been with MSB since leaving school, became a trainee in September 2016; and Nicole Kerr has also been appointed to trainee in the family department having completed her seat in our criminal team.
