MSB are proud to be sponsoring this year’s Radio City Christmas Carol Concert in aid of Cash for Kids.

The concert has become a popular event for families across the city region, with a full programme of performances planned, it is sure to get visitors in the festive spirit.

Cash for Kids is a national organisation who operate in 22 locations across the UK, partnering with a number of local charities to respond to the needs of children in our communities and enable all children to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential. All the money raised on behalf of Cash for Kids stays in the area it was raised in providing a helping hand when and where it is needed most.

MSB Solicitors, who operate across three offices in Allerton, Wavertree and Liverpool city centre, have been appointed to the International Child Abduction and Contact Panel by the Official Solicitors Office.

News comes following an intensive application process evidencing considerable experience and expertise in this area. MSB now join around just 40 other firms in the UK - predominantly London-based - and are the only firm in the North West including Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, North Wales and Cheshire.

MSB have grown their expertise in the field of international child abduction significantly in recent years. Partner Emma Carey and family solicitor Emma Palmer are both Resolution-accredited specialists in this area, solicitor Eve McGowan is on the Law Society’s advanced specialist panel for child abduction, Kirsty Leather has completed a masters of law in International Law and Wendy Eves has developed an excellent reputation as a specialist, cross-border mediator.

MSB Solicitors have been shortlisted for the Family Law Regional Firm of the Year for the North.

The Family Law Awards were launched in 2010 in order to recognise the important work of family lawyers across the country and celebrate achievements and advances in the sector.

MSB are listed alongside three other firms based in Newcastle, Bradford and Huddersfield.

Liverpool law firm MSB solicitors has been singled out for praise for its work on fraud and crime in Britain’s top guide to the legal profession.

The Legal 500, which every year highlights the best of the UK’s law firms and lawyers, has placed the city centre-based practice in the top tier in the North West for its work on financial crime - the only one in Liverpool to get into the top bracket.

MSB was also praised for its general crime work, being placed in the second tier of firms in the region and making it the highest-ranked crime firm in the city.

It follows on from last year’s Legal 500 in which MSB partner Sean Sexton was described as a ‘powerhouse’ for his work in complex fraud cases.

People who unwittingly give out their personal information to telephone or online financial fraudsters are actually participating in the fraud and may not get any money they lose refunded.

That’s the warning from leading Liverpool lawyer Paul Bibby of MSB Solicitors, who was speaking as a national campaign to combat financial fraud was launched.
Fraud committed every 15 seconds

According to figures released by Financial Fraud Action UK (FFA UK) more than 1m incidents of financial fraud occurred in the first six months of 2016 - a 53% rise and it means an incident occurs in the UK every 15 seconds.

We are delighted this month to bring you news that MSB have been appointed to the International Child Abduction and Contact Panel by the Official Solicitors Office.

We are delighted to have been awarded employer of the year at last week’s City of Liverpool Business Awards hosted by Downtown in Business.

The first award of the evening was announced during a dinner at Sefton Park Palm House, attended by more than 250 key representatives of Liverpool’s professional, leisure and lifestyle sectors. It’s the second time we have experienced success at this event, having been awarded best legal firm in 2015; and we were pleased to have seen off strong competition within our category this year.

The past twelve months have indeed been turning point for us in terms of employment as we have grown our team significantly, with a raft of appointments at every level within the firm – most notably our commercial property, family and criminal teams. There have been a series of promotions too as part of continued efforts to grow to the firm strategically, following the expansion of our city centre office.

We also launched the MSB Academy in late 2014, which has continued with great success; Susie Packer and Caitlin Connor have completed their apprenticeship training and will move to permanent roles in our family and residential departments respectively; and our second tier apprentices, Georgia Kearney and Jess Irons, continue to impress us with their enthusiasm and growing understanding of the legal profession.

Managing partner, Paul Bibby says:

“It has certainly been a busy twelve months in terms of appointments and promotions at MSB, so much so that in the coming months we’ll be moving to new premises in Liverpool city centre to house our growing team.

“I know I speak on behalf of the firm when I say how delighted we were to win the award for employer of the year. It is something we have invested time and energy into and it’s incredibly rewarding that those efforts have been recognised.”

Last Friday, June 24th, was Bring Your Dog to Work Day, an annual nationwide event that raises money for charities dedicated to making a difference to the welfare of dogs.

Canine companions are no stranger to the office here at MSB, with a number of our team regularly bringing their furry friends into work with them. In fact, we firmly believe that dogs in the workplace is an effective way to boost morale and increase productivity - a happy workplace is a productive workplace, after all.

Partner at MSB Jo Dalton often brings her pet Harvey into our Allerton Road office. Jo says:

“I started bringing Harvey into work when I was having some work done at home and he has come in ever since. I like to get into the office early and it was unfair to leave him on his own for such a long time. I’m lucky that our managing partner is so relaxed about me bringing him into work, it has really helped me.

“Harvey has become a much loved member of the team at MSB. I do think he brings lots of joy to others with his playfulness and cheeky grin. I know not everyone is in a position to be able to take their dog to work, but I’d recommend anyone who can does, it really does have a positive impact on people’s day.”
