Lexcel is the Law Society's practice management standard. It is a scheme for any type of practice to certify that certain standards have been met following independent assessment. The Lexcel practice management standard is only awarded to solicitors who meet the highest management and customer care standards. Lexcel accredited practices undergo rigorous independent assessment every year to ensure they meet required standards of excellence in areas such as client care, case management and risk management.
Resolution’s 5500 members are family lawyers committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. Our members follow a Code of Practice that promotes a non-confrontational approach to family problems. Our members encourage solutions that consider the needs of the whole family - and in particular the best interests of children.
The Community Legal Service (CLS) is a network of LSC funded organisations and advice providers that fund, provide and promote civil legal aid services. Civil law deals with disputes between individuals or organisations. People experiencing social problems often need legal advice in areas such as relationship breakdown, debt, housing, domestic violence and benefits. Help is also available for asylum and immigration, education, employment, mental health and community care issues.
More than 5,000 solicitors belong to Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association, or SFLA). Resolution members are committed to promoting a non-confrontational atmosphere in which family law matters are dealt with in a sensitive, constructive and cost-effective way.
The Criminal Defence Service (CDS) guarantees that people under police investigation or facing criminal charges can get legal advice and representation.By ensuring that people accused of crimes have access to legal advice and representation, the CDS also helps the police and courts operate fairly and efficiently.
The CDS is run by the LSC in partnership with criminal defence lawyers and representatives.
