23/05/2005 News Vioxx and Your and Yours, BBC Radio 4 Christine Peckham was invited to make a submission as part of the case study on the BBC Radio 4 discussion programme You and Yours broadcasted on 21st February 2005. Christine attended the BBC Radio Merseyside Studios where she recorded a brief history of her life on Vioxx and the effects the two strokes had upon her which she alleges were directly attributable to her use of Vioxx. Christine bravely described the aftermath of the strokes and the effects that these have had upon her and her family. Christine explaining the debilitating aftermath of her strokes which have resulted in her suffering from epilepsy and blindness as well as severely reducing her mobility to the extend that she needs a wheelchair and requires constant care and supervision. Prior to being prescribed Vioxx Christine was not in any risk category for cardiovascular problems or strokes and she did not drink or smoke. It is Christine's position that she wishes to pursue her claim against Merck and Co Inc the manufactures of Vioxx for the injuries sustained whilst on the medication. She intends to proceed with her claim in the USA.
